MEDICAL
HAIR LOSS RESTORATION
Hair Transplant Surgery - The Permanent Hair Replacement Solution
After 30 years as a
leader in non-surgical hair loss replacement, Transitions of Wisconsin
has joined forces with the PAI Medical Group, an international
leader in
hair transplant surgery.
Mel Laudolff, President of
Transitions of Wisconsin, has seen many changes in hair loss restoration
over the years. His affiliation with PAI gave him the initiative to
have hair transplant surgery. It's made a difference in his life.
OUR
PHILOSOPHY
Our basic philosophic
approach begins with a time-honored idea: “Do one thing and do it
well.” We don’t do face lifts, tummy tucks, breast implants, etc. We
concentrate our energies on performing the best hair transplant
surgery possible for each individual patient.
We endeavor to
produce a natural appearing hairline with single follicle (called
follicular unit) grafts.
Then we
carefully blend in progressively larger grafts behind the hairline.
In this fashion we are able to move a maximum number of permanently
growing hairs from the donor site on the back of the head to the
recipient area.
We move four
to six times as much hair as the standard approach, using follicular
unit grafts throughout, without sacrificing natural appearance.
More hair per session means a
smaller number of sessions are required to produce the desired
result. This means less expense to the patient and
less disruption of normal life.
WHAT
ARE HAIR TRANSPLANTS?
While
there are many surgical procedures for hair loss, hair transplants
are the most widely accepted. Hair transplant surgery
is the redistribution of hair from areas of greater density (the
back and sides of the head, also known as the donor areas) to areas
of lesser density.
For those fortunate to have
modest balding areas and relatively dense hair in the donor areas,
FOLLICULAR HAIR TRANSPLANTATION performed by a highly skilled and
experienced surgeon can produce very natural results.
An exclusive trademarked
method called MULTI-UNIT Hair Grafting® was developed by our PAI
Medical Group® Team. The goal of Multi-Unit Hair Grafting® is to
always provide you, the patient, with the most natural appearance
and greatest density while restoring your hair.
DO HAIR TRANSPLANTS REALLY WORK?
Yes. The
transplanted hair is removed from one area of the body (donor site)
and transferred to another (recipient site). The transferred tissue
is not "rejected" as it is not foreign tissue. The transplanted hair
maintains it's own characteristics; color, texture, growth rate, and
curl, after transplantation and re-growth.
The main limitation to hair
transplantation is density. While hair is moved from one
location to another, there is no overall increase in hair density as
a result. Therefore it is important to determine whether you
qualify as a candidate for hair transplant surgery.

KNOWLEDGE
AND EXPERIENCE
Obviously
our approach is more complex and requires better planning than the
standard approach, and solid knowledge of the basic principles and
techniques of hair transplantation is essential.
We must consider
numerous variables such as patient expectations, hair color, texture
and density, facial characteristics, age, family history, degrees of
present and future hair loss, scalp laxity and so on.
This information must then be organized, the plan presented to the
patient in an understandable way, and modified further, if
necessary, until doctor and patient are ‘on the same page’.
This is more work and takes more time, but experience tells us that
this individualized approach produces better results and happier
patients.
TECHNIQUES AND TEAMWORK
Knowledge of technique is
obviously not sufficient in itself. That technique must be
specifically applied with meticulous attention to detail to produce
superior results. And this is our goal.
However, no surgeon can
achieve this goal alone. Hair transplantation, perhaps more that any
other surgical procedure, depends on the assistance of skilled
nursing personnel in a ‘team’ framework.
The PAI Medical Group has put
together a remarkable staff of dedicated, well-trained nurses.
Without the work of these highly skilled individuals, particularly
in the precise cutting, preparation and placement of the individual
grafts, the transplantation of large amounts of hair per session
while maintaining the highest standards of quality would be
impossible.
